Routines & Rituals with Kylie Gaughan

Our Head of Product, Kylie Gaughan, is professionally immersed in the world of holistic healing. So you may expect that she’d be a natural beauty and supplement junkie with a comprehensive day and night routine full of the latest wellness product launches. Instead, it’s quite the opposite. Kylie bookends her day with calm, easy, and nourishing practices that are devoid of wellness dogma and complexity. It’s a lovely reminder that finding our own simple rhythm is key to our longevity and happiness.

Q. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Did becoming a wellness product developer find you or did you find it?

I grew up in Newport Beach, California before heading to NYU. After a few years in New York, I made my way back to Southern California. In the beginning, I worked a few different jobs in wellness and fashion. Although I wasn’t 100 percent clear on my career path, I had faith that it was all going to make sense eventually — and it did! A friend introduced me to THE FULLEST team and I began to help produce THE FULLEST podcasts. It was quickly pretty obvious that Nikki and I shared a love for natural products and our shared passion naturally grew into THE FULLEST botanical line. It wasn’t a linear path but I am grateful and glad my trust in the universe brought me here.

Q. Do you have a consistent daily AM and/or PM routine? Or do you mix it up?

I definitely do a version of the same routine everyday. As a natural early riser and lover of quiet mornings, I wake up around 6 am. Usually both my animals, Romy and Pippa, lead me downstairs to be let out and to have their breakfast before I even go to the bathroom. Then it’s to the kitchen to make some coffee with steamed raw, organic almond milk. I always try to eat a nourishing breakfast first thing — within 30 minutes of waking — and it makes me feel so much better throughout the day. Normally I have a pastured organic egg with chickpeas, or recently I have been having kitchari for breakfast — which I love. Most evenings, I’ll take a warm bath with our soon to be released milk and salt baths, Inheal™ and Exheal™. Then I lather myself with a Surya Spa Body Oil or Nucifera Balm, light some beeswax candles, and get into my organic all-wool bed for an early night’s sleep.

Q. How does the natural world support your modern life?

The natural world supports me all day long! Whether it’s the food I eat, the supplements I take, walks outside, they all lead back to the natural world. I also love to turn to nature for anything I am dealing with physically, mentally, or emotionally — it holds so many remedies from herbs to homeopathics.

Q. Do you have any rituals that you practice daily, weekly, or monthly?

Daily, I would say using beeswax candles as my main source of light at night is one of my favorite rituals. It is so soothing and great to prevent too much light exposure. I also love that beeswax candles act as a natural air purifier due to their release of negative ions.Weekly and monthly, I prioritize acupuncture, lymphatic drainage treatments, and chiropractic appointments over getting my nails done or my hair done. The ritual of taking time to care for myself with these tools is key to my ultimate well-being.

Q. Are there any particular foods or botanicals that align with your beauty routine or self-care practice?

My favorite product right now is our Mindful Immunity™ Super Protection Syrup. I make tea with it multiple times a day and I truly feel so nourished by all the immune-supporting herbs. For me, I find that when I am focusing on my immune system, my whole body functions better.

Q. What do you wish people knew about the wellness industry?

That wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming. There are so many little shifts you can make in your routine or habits that truly encourage well-being. For example, just by focusing on whole, organic foods will make such a difference. I don’t believe everyone needs to be gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, keto (and the list goes on) to be healthy. Perhaps you may need to temporarily experiment with these diets but once your body is back in balance and healed, I believe one of the keys to sustainable long term health is simply the quality of your food.
