March sees a loosening of sorts and both an ending and a beginning as we welcome in a change of season. We begin the month with the Sun and Venus in Pisces, softening the rigidity of Aquarius and breaking up the stellium. February was an intense month, as many were pushed to the brink. You may have noticed that on March 3rd, Mars left Taurus for Gemini, providing us with more options as the paths diversified and we opened to new opportunities. Whereas Taurus is determined and stubborn, Gemini is curious and versatile.
Basically, we’re moving from Fixed Energy to Mutable. Adaptability will take us where we need to go, as will the willingness to shift perspective. The more willing we are to learn and grow, the farther we’ll go.
Mutable signs can feel pulled in multiple directions. The key is to let go of the singular path, there being only one way. On the 5th, the Last Quarter Moon in Sagittarius had us 3/4th of the way through the Lunar Cycle that began with the February 11th New Moon in Aquarius. This is the separation of the wheat from the chaff as we process what came forward during the Full Moon in Virgo on the 27th. We may have felt restless on this day with a strong desire to explore new horizons.March 13th sees the New Moon in Pisces, as we set intentions to surrender our ego’s attachment to outcome and welcome in a more multidimensional view. This is furthered two days later, when Mercury leaves its extended stay in Aquarius for Pisces and our thoughts and communications become more malleable, but also possibly vague.
Pisces likes to keep its options open. While this may work for the one keeping said options open, it can be maddening for those on the other end. Still, with so much uncertainty still lingering in the air, the more nimble we are, the easier life will flow.
An opportunity, always, to look at our relationship to linear time. Pisces reminds us that there are greater things at play, that time and space are malleable, that the immaterial is not independent from the material. On March 20th, we have the Equinox (spring in the Northern Hemisphere, Autumn in the Southern) when the Sun moves into Aries, igniting our fire. The following day, on the 21st, Venus joins the Sun, giving direction and force to our desires, but things might feel a little sticky on this particular day, as the First Quarter Moon in Cancer puts the focus on our core needs and how they are and aren’t being met. Emotions may run high. On March 23rd, when Pluto in Capricorn is quintile Chiron in Aries, we may be put in touch with our woundedness, the ways in which we keep ourselves small. When we hit the Full Moon in Libra on March 28th, our relationships will come front and center. Like Pisces, Libra prefers not to rock the boat. Where Pisces is apt to slip out the back door, Libra seeks to control the atmosphere. Mediation and collaboration allow for forward movement, being willing to have the conversation itself is the key. Overall, March is a month of healing and release, of finding the beauty in impermanence, the inherent gift of letting it be.Danielle Beinstein is a psychological and intuitive astrologer based between New York, Los Angeles, and New Zealand.
