Mindful Men: Shane Heath of MUD/WTR

With our “Mindful Men” series we are showcasing some of our favorite dudes who are continually carving out change in the wellness space...

Who he is:

Shane Heath, founder of MUD\WTR.

What he does:

At his core, Shane is an artist and an entrepreneur. Day in and day out he manages his quickly growing, Venice-based coffee alternative brand, MUD\WTR. Ultimately, Shane feels that his purpose is to inspire others to cultivate their mental, physical, and spiritual potential.

What makes him different:

Shane is perpetually curious, sharing that for as long as he can remember he has always wanted to know why things are the way they are. “The memories that stand out as a kid are of building things,” he says. “Forts, legos, basically anything that brought my imagination into the dimensional realm.” This desire to go beyond the present led Shane to work with plant medicine, which continues to be an expansive modality for him, his business, and his community.

How being mindful has enhanced his life:

Being mindful has brought Shane into a deeper connection with life. For him, mindfulness starts with awareness and is acting from a place of presence that “can be tuned into” to help orient our lives to our truest pursuits. Rituals are another integral part of his mindful lifestyle.

“I love the ritual of drinking something warm in the morning," Shane shares. "That’s why I created MUD/WTR, which eventually turned into my full time business.”

MUD is a coffee alternative consisting of masala chai, cacao, turmeric, cinnamon, sea salt, and four mushrooms: chaga, reishi, lion’s mane, and cordyceps. Whether it’s his morning cup of MUD/WTR, regular fasting on Wednesdays, or sleeping under a gravity blanket, Shane is committed to rituals that support presence, sustained energy, and consistent growth.

Wisdom for other men:

Shane encourages other men to be intentional in their conversations -- to take the risk to talk about fear, shame, and (yes) even relationships.
