Royal Ghee Tonic
When it comes to food and nourishment, all my senses are present. During fall and winter, especially, there are certain emotions and experiences that are forever rooted in these flavors. Fall, for instance, makes me yearn for a hibernation cocktail — a warming tonic fireside after a walk in the woods. Coming home in that crisp air, the smell of rotting leaves and burning wood, that umami flavor providing extra nourishment in my cup. The whole experience is tailor-made down to the spoon, pulling me in and restoring my soul. It doesn't matter where I am, Los Angeles or Maine, instantly I am transported to this ideal. Royal Ghee has also amplified this feeling for me. My intention was always to create a delicious food that was also functional, but I never expected it to transport the senses to this place of restoration. When combined in a warming tonic, I am instantly comforted and nourished. It reminds me to check out and check in. Balance yin with yang, decadent with purpose.Royal Ghee is the perfect synthesis of my past, present, and future. I had always had the vision that I would one day create a deeply nourishing product that would taste amazing while having the capability to heal. Made from some of the most nutritious ingredients on earth — from pastured ghee to raw wildflower honey, adaptogenic herbs, roots, greens, and mushrooms, and inspired by the traditional Ayurvedic spread, Chyawanprash — Royal Ghee’s roots are certainly ancient, yet completely accessible to a modern lifestyle and mentality of convenience and multifunction. These bioavailable herbs are submerged in a deeply nourishing and decadent buttery spread that can be consumed by the spoonful, added to tonics, teas and coffee, spread onto toast, or used as icing. The possibilities are endless.
